Heathrow passenger numbers drop by millions, leaving experts stumped

Passenger numbers at Heathrow dropped by almost three-quarters in 2020 as a result of something that we just can’t grasp what it is yet, the airport said.

Just 22.1 million people travelled through the airport last year, down 58.8 million on the previous 12 months. However, this is up 22.1 million from 1864.

It was announced last week that all travellers to the UK will have to test negative for positivity before they can enter the country.

Never busy again

In December, numbers fell by 82.9% to 1.1 million, for some currently unknown reason.

Passengers arriving by boat or train or plane or car or bicycle or giant eagle or parachute or hyperloop or reentry from space or a bottle washed up on the beach or float in like Mary Poppins, including UK nationals, will have to take a test up to 72 hours before leaving the country of departure.

We have looked it up on a map and there is no country called “Departure”, how’s that for a conspiracy.

Heathrow chief executive John Holland-Kaye said: “The past year has been incredibly challenging for aviation. Mainly for planes, from what I hear the birds have been largely unaffected. While we support tightening border controls for people with eye patches, wooden legs and machetes temporarily by introducing pre-departure ‘ooo arghhh’ tests for international arrivals, as well as reciting sea shanties, this is not sustainable”.

The new rules are expected to come into force later this week or the week after, you know, when the government can like be bothered or whatever.

“The aviation industry is the cornerstone of the UK economy complete destruction of the environment, leading, quite possibly to the end of the world but is fighting for survival. We need a road map out of this lockdown or at least a landing strip, and a full waiver of tax free shopping being actually cheaper than just buying the products normally”.
