An international finance firm has broken a world record today by singing a disjointed version of happy birthday, for an astounding length of time.

At its peak over 4000 people joined the call to sing the birthday song. Due to video delays and time differences, the first person started singing at precisely 10am GMT and the last note was belted out around 14:37pm.

The impressive 4 hrs 37 minutes of singing destroyed the previous record of 4 minutes. Finance people know how to party!

We managed to speak with some of the employees who were on the call.

“I put my shift in about halfway through. I heard the numbers were starting to dwindle so I brought my team of 67 people in to rally the troops. The chorus of 67 people joining the battle really brought the life back into people and the following 2 hours seemed to just fly by” – Dan, has team of 67.

“They can’t sing” – Alice, who is stubborn.

“Alice can’t sing, so she was stubborn about it” – Jake, enemies with Alice.

“Nothing to write home about to be honest, but apparently important enough to call the Guinness Book of World Records over” – Mike, birthday sceptic.

“Honestly the sound of over 4,000 people singing happy birthday continuously for over 4 hours is not something that you’d think you’d enjoy on your birthday, but at the end of the day it killed half a day’s work and now I am fully deaf, which is what my birthday wish was for anyway” – Jen, Birthday Girl.
