Rumours of the UK taking Turkey off its ‘red list’ is sending shivers down the spines of Turkish citizens.
An official spokesperson for the Turkish foreign office said today,
“From Friday up to 70 million British people could start booking holidays, surgery appointments or even try to move here permanently. We can’t have the British coming over here ruining our culture, putting strain on our health service and taking away homes that could be going to Turkey’s homeless! We need our health service for us!”
British politicians have queued up to defend the decision and have said that “Turkey should be excited to think of all the money British holidaymakers could bring into the country, helping its tourist industry bounce back after a year in decline”.
However, according to a recent study, it was found that most British people didn’t even know that Turkey had its own currency, with a staggering 76% of UK holidaymakers not exchanging their pounds when visiting, thinking they would be accepted. 18% said they couldn’t locate a local M&S branch to change it and 4% thought it was dinosaurs.
You only have to venture to Twitter to see the outrage from Turkish citizens that they may soon be exposed to an overflow of British immigrants trying to escape the lack of opportunities in their own country.
